Well there are times i wish i had a column in the Calgary Sun. It is one thing to support peace. It is one thing to not want war in Iraq. It is an entirely different thing to offend and insult the people who are our neighbors... our friends and family... our biggest trade partners... our protectors... did i miss anything? Ahh yes... our ALLIES.
We do not have to kiss anyone's ass not even the US'. Chretien has proven that this week... but do we now have to go around giving the Americans the finger?
Good grief we need to wake up... we live next door to these people... our economies depend on each other... ours more on theirs than vice versa... we like to vacation down there... do you all really want to have to fly to Eurodisney the next time your kids want to see Mickey??
You can forget about spending time in Florida when you get older ... my parents are cancelling their plans for spring camping in the States because stories of unpleasant incidents are already filtering back here and that was before we booed their national anthem.
There's nothing wrong with believing in peace... many Americans do not support the war... but we could at least do it with a bit of class.

"I have heard it all my life,
A voice calling a name i recognized as my own.
Sometimes it comes as a soft bellied whisper.
Sometimes it holds an edge of urgency.
But always it says:
Wake up my love.
You are walking asleep.
There's no safety in that."
