There seems to be a lot of attention lately placed on victims of the war... some men, women and even some children... but lets not forget that for every injured human being in this war there are hundreds probably thousands dead by the hand of Sadam Hussein. This doesn't excuse or lessen the suffering of the poor people being injured now... but lets not forget some of the reasons this event is taking place albeit somewhat late by a decade or so.
A PUBLIC ATTENTION ON THE GENOCIDE OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE IN IRAQ
The Iraqi regime is one of the most brutal regimes in the world and maybe the
only regime that has ever used chemical weapons against its own people as we
witnessed on March 16th 1988 in Halabja, Iraqi Kurdistan. As a result 5000
people Women, Children and Men died. More than 10,000 injured out of which
most of them later lost their Lives. Those who survived are suffering from the
adverse effects of that inhuman attack. In spite of the media coverage this
Kurdish Hiroshima came to receive, the perpetrators of this massacre have not
been brought to justice. Therefore at the same time the Baa`th regime of Iraq
under the rule of Sadam Hossein conspired yet another massacre against the
kurdish people in Iraqi Kurdistan. This came to be known as the ANFAL
operations.
The outcome of the Al-Majid rule in Kurdistn during 2 years of the operations
resulted in killings and disappearances of tens of thousands of women, children
and young men.
14 years after, the ANFAL inferno the fate of 182,000 Kurdish women, children,
and men remain unknown. Their relatives continue to live with the pain and
distress. They cannot maintain a normal and healthy life unless the fate of their
disappeared beloved is known and the perpetrators of the crimes are given the
punishment they deserve.

"I have heard it all my life,
A voice calling a name i recognized as my own.
Sometimes it comes as a soft bellied whisper.
Sometimes it holds an edge of urgency.
But always it says:
Wake up my love.
You are walking asleep.
There's no safety in that."
