I saw something that really surprised me tonight. On 60minutes II they were explaining how they've found two hormones responsible for appetite. One turns it on and one turns it off.
They are finding very high levels of the one that makes people hungry in those people that are obese and yoyo diet. These levels drop dramatically in obese people who have gastric surgery to reduce the size of their stomachs as it is produced in the stomach.
I've always believed people were fat because they ate too much and didn't exercise enough even though i am sometimes one of those fat people. They are in the process of trying to find a pill to block the hormone that makes us hungry.
It will be at least ten years they figure before they come up with something though. So i guess i won't be giving up my new gym membership anytime soon. :P

"I have heard it all my life,
A voice calling a name i recognized as my own.
Sometimes it comes as a soft bellied whisper.
Sometimes it holds an edge of urgency.
But always it says:
Wake up my love.
You are walking asleep.
There's no safety in that."
