Friday Five (.org)
1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? My current occupation is SAHM. I was a registered nurse but i retired 8 or 9 yrs ago when i had my first daughter. This is what i had planned to be doing. I've always thought it was important for kids to have a parent at home. In fact i think i may not have had children at all if i wasn't able to stay home with them. I've never wanted to be a working mom.
2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? I love being a SAHM... if not that i'd like to be independently wealthy... that's not really an occupation is it? :P ... ok a rock star then if i actually had to work and make money... although no doubt i'd be really messed up on drugs and stuff... that would be bad.
3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? My dad was a heavy duty mechanic... and my mom was an executive housekeeper in a large hotel. Ummm their work didn't influence my career choices except to say they thought education was extremely important and wanted me to be better educated etc.
4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? Nope... it was one or the other for me. If i couldn't stop working to have children then i wasn't going to have children. I just didn't feel i could deal with so many things at once... i didn't want the stress... and i felt the children would benefit greatly from my presence at home.
5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? Gosh i'm starting to believe there is no such thing as an easy job. I think any job with some flexibility with regards to hours worked... start time... finish time etc. is preferable. I think those are some of the things that make a job easier. Freedom to work when and where you want. If you can think of any job like that let me know huh? :))
I think any job with lots of deadlines and long hours would be difficult. I would find anything to do with writing hard myself... like writing for a newspaper... always having to meet deadlines and having to come up with new and interesting stuff. Hah that seems pretty damn funny now i think about it seeing as blogger is all about writing and i enjoy doing this. No pressure though... if i don't feel like doing it i don't have to.

"I have heard it all my life,
A voice calling a name i recognized as my own.
Sometimes it comes as a soft bellied whisper.
Sometimes it holds an edge of urgency.
But always it says:
Wake up my love.
You are walking asleep.
There's no safety in that."
